Dr. Simone Battibugli is a highly experienced pediatric orthopedic surgeon with more than two decades of expertise in managing a wide spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions. Originally from Brazil, she relocated to the UAE a decade ago, where she has earned a distinguished reputation for her skill and dedication, particularly in the care of children with cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular disorders.
Dr. Battibugli is known for her patient-centered, multidisciplinary approach, ensuring that every child receives a personalized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs. Her commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care has established her as a leader in pediatric orthopedics, helping children with complex musculoskeletal challenges achieve improved mobility, comfort, and quality of life.
Her areas of expertise include:
- Neuromuscular Disorders: Comprehensive care for children with conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, arthrogryposis, and spinal muscular atrophy—addressing challenges like contractures, deformities, and gait abnormalities.
- Congenital Abnormalities: Management of musculoskeletal conditions present at birth, including clubfoot, vertical talus, congenital foot deformities, hip dislocation, developmental dysplasia of the hip, limb length discrepancies, and malformations of the upper and lower limbs.
- Hip Disorders: Diagnosis and treatment of pediatric hip conditions such as developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), Perthes disease, and slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE), with an emphasis on preserving hip function and preventing long-term complications.
- Developmental Conditions: Expertise in disorders affecting bone and joint development, including Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, angular and rotational deformities, SCFE, and Osgood-Schlatter disease.
- Foot and Ankle Conditions: Treatment of a wide range of foot and ankle problems in children, such as flatfoot, cavus foot (high arch), toe deformities, and pediatric fractures and sprains.
- Bone and Joint Infections: Collaborative management of infections like osteomyelitis and septic arthritis, working closely with infectious disease specialists to provide both surgical and antibiotic treatment.
- Scoliosis and Spinal Deformities: Conservative management of spinal conditions, including scoliosis, kyphosis, and lordosis, using non-invasive methods such as bracing and physiotherapy when appropriate.
- Sports Injuries: Specialized care for sports-related injuries in children and adolescents— such as ligament sprains, tendon injuries, and stress fractures—to promote safe and effective recovery.
Throughout her career, Dr. Battibugli has remained dedicated to helping children reach their full potential through expert orthopedic care. We are delighted to welcome her to the Harley Street Medical Centre, where she will continue her mission of enhancing the health and well-being of young patients and their families.
