Do I have diabetes?
Does your mother or father have Type 2 Diabetes?
High blood sugar could damage the blood vessels in the retina (a light-sensitive layer of cells in the back of the eye). Damaged blood vessels can swell and leak, causing blurry vision or stopping blood flow.
If you get a sudden increase in ‘floaters’, you should seek urgent medical help as there are other possible causes that could threaten your eyesight if untreated.
High blood sugar and dehydration in both types of diabetes can cause you feel dizzy and lightheaded.
The only conclusive test for diabetes is a blood test. However, the quiz should give you an indication of whether to seek urgent help, or whether to raise the issue at your next GP appointment.
