After earning her medical degree from the American University of Beirut, Dr. Achjian pursued advanced training in the United States. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where she graduated with multiple awards in recognition of her academic and clinical excellence. She subsequently joined the faculty at the same institution as an assistant professor, contributing to both patient care and medical education.
Dr. Achjian is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. She also holds certification from The Menopause Society, reflecting advanced expertise in menopause diagnosis and management. In addition, she earned a Master of Public Health degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, further strengthening her foundation in population health and preventive medicine.
Licensed to practice in Abu Dhabi, California, and Texas, Dr. Achjian maintains a visiting attending position at hospitals in California. Her professional experience spans both the Middle East and the United States. Having lived and trained extensively in both regions, she is particularly attentive to the cultural, social, and familial factors that influence women’s health. This cross-cultural perspective informs her approach to care, allowing her to provide treatment that is not only evidence-based, but also culturally sensitive and patient-centered.
Dr. Achjian is fluent in Arabic, English, and Armenian, and has working knowledge of French and Spanish. Her diverse linguistic and cultural background enhances her ability to serve women from a wide range of communities with understanding and respect.
